What is legalization/authentication?

How does legalization work?

Required Materials:
- baby’s birth certificate
- parents’ passports (foreigner)/ID card (citizen) (c) marriage certificate
Time: 1 working day for material review and about 5 working days for notarization
- Legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Then, the notarized documents will be sent to the competent authorities of the MOFA. The officers there authenticate the seal/signature of the notary, and affix their seal/signature.
Time: About 5 working days
- Legalized by the Embassy/Consulate
The competent authorities of the MOFA could send the documents to the Embassy/Consulate in which the officers authenticate the seal/signature of the MOFA.
